6 Months Waiting

Today marks 6 months of waiting for our little one(s).  Half a year.  6 months plus 1 day since this is a leap year.  Right now, if we'd gotten pregnant in the traditional sense, I would be sporting a baby bump right now.  There would be an end in sight, a date in mind and names picked out.

However, God has called us to do something a little different. Adoption is not easy nor is it for the faint-of-heart.  I would have to say that it's not for impatient people but considering I'm not a very patient person, that's obviously not true.  Actually, I'm very patient when dealing with children and most adults, I'm just not good at waiting.  But I'm learning to wait, to be patient during the wait and to use this wait as an opportunity to grow in my faith.

God’s purposes are not for me to understand His plans: His plan is for me to understand Who He is.

Still No Computer

Our computer is still in the lovely hands of the Geek Squad at Best Buy.  Actually, it's not in the hands of the Geek Squad we left it with, but in the hands of their fellow squad members where ever they shipped it too.  After the viruses were cleaned off, Gabe and I went and picked up the computer and brought it home.  Only to find that while the viruses were gone, the computer still didn't work.  Ugh!

After returning the computer to Best Buy, then re-returning to sign paperwork, Best Buy called with the news that it was a hardware problem and they needed to send it out.

Hopefully, it's still under warranty.

Thankfully, Matt lets me use his work computer at night.  Another reason I love him...

Unfortunately, we probably won't have it back for at least another week.

Fortunately, Gabe and I will be visiting Ohio at the end of this week and won't need a computer.  Woot woot!

All of this written to inform our family that it looks like there won't be any pictures of Gabe and his awesome-self any time soon.  And that we're hoping for some snow when we're in town!

The Promise

He who calls you is faithful, He will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24

This was the verse that our pastor preached on this past week.  And it continued to play in my mind and on my heart all week.

The story behind the verse: In verses 1 - 22,, Paul commands us to pursue a holy life. To affirm that command, he gives us a promise; a promise from God.  A promise from God?  If you can put your faith in anything, surely it would be a promise from God.  Right?

As this week has progressed, 1 Thessalonians 5:24 seemed to apply to many of the situations I was presented.  I texted it to a friend who is making some life changing decisions, I prayed it over a friend who's father recently passed away and I keep repeating it to myself as we approach the 6 month waiting mark.

While we question the wait, when other's wonder why we're waiting on a list when there are so many waiting children, at the times anxiety makes the wait seem unbearable; we will remember 1 Thessalonians 5:24.  I will repeat it, pray it and most likely get wall art made of it.

The greatest thing about this verse is it is fits everywhere.  Everywhere! Is God calling you to adopt? change jobs? move? volunteer somewhere? embark on a new adventure? 1 Thessalonians 5:24 will remind you and encourage you that He is faithful.  He will do it.  No matter what.

Attn: Grandparents

This is a note for Gabe's grandparents up in Ohio and New Jersey.  Our computer is with the Geek Squad so there won't be any picture posting until we have it back.  Most likely, we're talking about 3-5 days... I apologize for the inconvience as I know that is the only reason ya'll come here. C'mon, you know that's the truth!  No need to click refresh in hopes of seeing new pictures of Gabers... please forgive us, [smile].

But believe me when I tell you, he's just as cute as ever!

XOXO
